Born in Canton, NY, Julia was one of four children born to Lewis and Julia Newvine. A candy striper during high school and shortly after, Julia became an LPN in 1965 – starting a lifelong passion for nursing and patient care. She also was vice president of the Homemakers Association of America - New York chapter. Julia married Randall Langston in 1970, and toured the country with him during his service with the United States Coast Guard, retiring in Fort Lauderdale. Not fully ready for retirement, Randall and Julia relocated to the Daytona Beach area where Julia continued her dedication to taking care of others – both at Atlantic Hospital and then Halifax Hospital until her second retirement in 2010, with over 40 years as a licensed nurse.
Julia also embodied the spirit of the quintessential homemaker – known for her baking, crocheting, sewing, and commitment to her family and those she served. She also enjoyed Hallmark movies, the DIY channel (especially home renovation shows), reading voraciously, and enjoyed listening to all kinds of music of her time – her heart forever stolen by Elvis.
Julia was predeceased by her parents, brother John Newvine, and sister Lea Barrett. She will forever be remembered by her daughter, Angela Langston (Steve Etling), son Brent “George” (Denise) Langston; 4 grandchildren: Maggie (Casey) Wild, Garrett Schwartzfager, David Etling, Alex Etling; 3 great-grandchildren: Riley Etling, Jaxon Wild, and Adley Wild; brother, Lyal Newvine, and brother-in-law Phil Barrett.
A Celebration of Julia’s Life will be held at a later date when she is laid to rest alongside her beloved Randall who predeceased her in 2020.
