Of Port Orange, FL, formerly of Germantown, MD, died July 11, 2021.
Mary was born September 2, 1949 to Jacquelyn (Walton) Bowman and Ralph Edward Bowman.
Gone suddenly and too soon, Mary was predeceased in death by her husband, Eugene T. “Spike” Healey, her parents, and her younger sister, Katy. She is survived by her daughter, Jacquelyn "Shellie" Kalinsky (her husband Greg) of Great Falls, VA, her son Eugene T. "Trip" Healey, III (his wife Tanis) of Port Orange, FL, her grandchildren Kathleen (and husband Matt), Victoria "Tori", Stephen, Erin, Tyler, Tavin, her great-grandson Stephen, her sister Susanne, her brothers Ralph, Marty, Danny, and John, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.
Mary married her high school sweetheart, Spike, and they were devoted to one another. Mary’s most precious moments were family gatherings with her large, extended family together. The laughter and joy is a cherished memory for her family.
She attended Shepherd College and enjoyed a long career in the Washington National Eye Center and Department of Ophthalmology at The Washington Hospital Center where she made lifetime friendships that brought her great joy. Mary had many special interests and talents. She enjoyed cooking and trying new recipes. Her chicken cordon blue, potato salad, and homemade Christmas cookies were family favorites. Her creative birthday cakes were special delights. She was an expert seamstress who created flawless clothes for her children and grandchildren. She sewed her daughter's and sister-in-law's wedding gowns. Many years ago, she painted, sketched, and had good fun with her duckpin bowling team. Mary could find the sunshine behind the clouds and made every day a beautiful day.
A celebration of life will be planned by the family at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Conklin Davis Center for the Visually Impaired (https://www.cvicentralflorida.org).
