Mary Marlene Marino

Marlene was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, in February 1937 to Kolbjorn ”Andy” Emanuel Arvid Anderson and Mary Astrid Dow Anderson, and was the fifth of their six children. As an “army brat,” she lived in Utah, Texas, Japan and Michigan over the course of her childhood. After her father retired as a Master Sergeant in the Army, the family returned to San Antonio, Texas.

After graduating from Breckenridge High School in San Antonio, Marlene went on to graduate from Parish-Draughon’s School of Business. Over the course of her career, she held positions as a long distance and teletype operator at Southwestern Bell, a hostess (“Parkette”) for the city of San Antonio, the Secretary to the Chief Investigator for Bexar County District Attorney’s office in San Antonio, and the Merchandise Coordinator and Executive Secretary to the President of Fay’s Drug Co. in Liverpool, New York.

During her younger years, Marlene loved swimming and enjoyed boating, snowmobiling and entertaining friends and family. She also learned flight navigation after her husband, Ron, received his pilot license.

Despite many hardships and tragic losses during her life, Marlene always persevered and exemplified strength, faith, kindness and love for all. She will be remembered as a charismatic, beautiful, loving, kind-hearted, intelligent, strong and adventurous woman. Marlene loved her family fiercely and was their biggest cheerleader. All of Marlene’s family will miss her dearly but are grateful for their time with her; her presence will always be felt in their hearts.

Marlene was predeceased by her beloved parents; husbands Richard S. Stolberg, Ronald L. Marino, and loving companion Donald Laskie; sister Marva J. Eckman, brothers Jerry C. Anderson and James E. Anderson; daughter Mary Ann Dennis; grandson Justin W. Cline and great granddaughter Madison J. Kuss.

Marlene is survived by her brothers, Ray H. Anderson and John S. Anderson [Mary Jane]; children, Larry W. Dennis [Dawn], Deborah K. Dennis Hill [Robert] and David A. Dennis; step-children Laura A. (Marino) Myers [Gary], Curtis R. Marino and Katherine ‘Kit’ (Marino) Melzler [William]; grandchildren, Crystal M. (Cline) Halbmaier [Craig], Jenelle A. Dennis, Jasmine D. (Dennis) Kuss [Jamie], Kyle Dennis, Katelyn Dennis, Nicole Baik [Eddie], Curtis Marino, Alex Kitelinger, Lacey Kitelinger and Roberta Kitelinger; 14 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Marlene’s name to Halifax Health Hospice, 3800 Woodbriar Trail, Port Orange, FL 32129.
