Nancy S. Rowan passed into the eternal love of God on December 11, 2016. Born on November 28, 1958 in Huntsville, Alabama to John and Mae Helen Wood, the Wood Family moved to Titusville, Florida when Nancy was in 3rd grade for the space program. A 1977 graduate of Titusville High and a 1982 graduate of UCF, she was one of the first women engineers at the Kennedy Space Center. Her career at KSC spanned nearly the entire shuttle program for which she managed the cockpit controls and flight software. Nancy married Roger Rowan in 1981 and was a loving mother to her daughter Rhianon, son Rory, and cats Kitty and Smokey. In 2009, Nancy and Roger achieved their lifelong dream of living on the ocean when they moved to Daytona Beach. She was also blessed to be able to take care of her parents in their final years. Nancy's biggest passion besides her family and God was the sport of running which she deeply loved and shared with her husband, children, and many friends. She ran her first marathon in 2000, was a fixture on the local racing circuit, traveled across the country to race and run and even ran a half marathon this past Thanksgiving. She also started a company called Runningal Event Management in recent years and helped local charities and causes put on successful foot races in Volusia and Brevard counties. For ten months in 2016, Nancy spent quality time with her daughter Rhianon and son-in-law Jeff in Vermont helping to raise her young grandson Grady who she is very proud of. She was also looking forward to the birth of her first granddaughter in 2017. Nancy is loved and will be always remembered by all for her intelligence, beauty, ambition, grace, faith, and kindness. Preceded in death by her parents, her oldest sister Sharon Caldwell, niece Cindy Caldwell, and father in-law Roger Frank Rowan, Nancy is survived by her loving husband Roger, son Rory, daughter and son-in-law Rhianon & Jeff Galotti, grandson Grady Galotti, sister Wanda Wood, sister and brother-in-law Jennifer & Ronnie Best, nieces Kendra and Brooke Best, and nephew and his wife, Dennis and Linda Caldwell.
A Visitation for friends and family will be held Tuesday, 12/20/2016 from 5pm-7pm at Westminster by the Sea Presbyterian Church, 3221 S Peninsula Dr., Daytona Beach, FL 32118. A Funeral Service will then begin at 7pm, with Rev. Dr. Jeffrey Sumner officiating. Nancy will be laid to rest on her and Roger's 35th wedding anniversary.
