

Richard G. Wheeler Sr. was born Nov 6, 1938 in Flora, IL to Lowell N. Wheeler and Vera Mae (Gray) Wheeler. He went to be with the lord on January 10, 2012 at Halifax Hospital in Daytona Beach Florida.
He was married in 1958 to Phyllis Maulding who will miss him dearly. Together they had four wonderful children who loved their Dad very much and will always hold his memories close to their hearts. He served active duty in the Signal Core with the U.S. Army and then the Army National Guard for 16 years attaining the rank of Captain.
He is survived by two sons Richard Wheeler II and wife Dawn of Jacksonville Florida, William (Chip) Wheeler and wife Kristi of Ormond Beach Florida. Two daughters Kim Bentzoni and Husband Don and Dana Garner of Port Orange Florida. Brothers Kent Wheeler (Doris) and Jim Funkhouser (Carolyn) of Grayville IL. Former wife Phyllis Wheeler, Mother in Law Pauline Richards Port Orange 13 grand children and several nieces and nephews. He was a sweet man who loved life, but most importantly he loved his family.
A time of visitation and sharing will be Saturday January 14, 2012 from 1:00PM to 3:00PM at Volusia Memorial Funeral Home 4815 Clyde Morris Blvd, Port Orange, FL 32129. There will not be a day that goes by that we do not think of him. He will be missed by his family and countless friends.
