Mrs. Henley was born in Little Rock, Arkansas on June 15, 1935 to the late Roy, who preceded her in death before she was born, and Delores Stone Young. She was very proud of her name, Roylyn, that her mother named her in honor of her beloved father, Roy. Her mother preceded her in death in 1979.
Mrs. Henley was raised in south Florida, graduating in 1953 from Miami Jackson High School. She met and married her beloved husband, Odell Henley, on April 22, 1967, who preceded her in death on April 12, 1994. She retired from General Electric after 30 years. She was a member of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church, Port Orange, FL. Roylyn's favorite hobbies were bowling, sewing and gardening. She bowled in different women's and mixed leagues through the years. She enjoyed watching her grandchildren in their different sports activities, it was a true highlight for her. Roylyn was a wonderful mother, wife, nana and nanny. She always put others before herself and found a friend in all. She will be greatly missed but always remembered.
We are so proud of our mom. Through her sickness, she was a fighter and her wish was always to live to see her children and grandchildren. She never gave up, fighting till the end.
Mrs. Henley leaves behind to cherish her memory, her loving son and daughter in law, Robert and Peggy Henley and their two daughters, Victoria (15) and Ally (12) of Joplin, MO; her loving daughter and son in law, Michelle and Gary Zalich, Sr. and their two children, Brittany (16) and Gary, Jr. (12) of Port Orange, FL.
We would like to thank Dr. Richard Weiss and his staff at the Oncology Center for the excellent care that was given to our wonderful mom. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Hospice of Volusia/Flagler, 3800 Woodbriar Trail, Port Orange, FL 32129.
