Sandra “Sandy” Dukes, 69, of Port Orange passed away Monday September 14, 2015 after a courageous battle with cancer. Sandy was born in Macon GA on May 24, 1946 and has been a resident of this area since 1991. For many years Sandy worked as a paraprofessional with the Volusia County School System assisting children at Westside and Longstreet Elementary Schools. She was a dedicated professional and caregiver who wanted the best for the children she taught as well as her family. Her smile would light up a room and she enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family. She was a member of the Fun Bunch of Tarpon Spring; a group dedicated to paying tribute to the memory of Elvis Presley. Together they enjoyed traveling to see the various shows of the Elvis Tribute Artists. She also enjoyed spending time outdoors tending to the yard or riding a motorcycle. Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 50 years, James; her daughter Sherry Michaelis of Port Orange and granddaughter Brittni Michaelis. The family invites you to join them in celebrating Sandy’s life Saturday, September 26, 2015 11:00 a.m. at Volusia Memorial Funeral Home 4815 S. Clyde Morris Blvd. Port Orange. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Halifax Health Hospice 3800 Woodbrier Trail, Port Orange. Condolences may be shared with the family at www.volusiamemorialfuneral.com
