He is preceded in death by his parents and his sister Cherrie and the father-in-law he adored, Albert Newell.
Steve is survived by his loving wife Sonja Robertson and his mother-in-law Linda Newell, his brothers, Jim Robertson and his wife Marie, Glen Robertson and his wife Lorraine, and Brennan Robertson. His three children Hayley Robertson, Danny Robertson and step daughter Jenny Blake.
He will be missed by his adoring grandchildren, Zoey, Nora Rose, Madeline, Mia, Camille, Thomas, Rylee and his youngest granddaughter Stevie who was born right before Steve was called home whom he did not get the pleasure of meeting.
Steve grew up in England and his brother remembers his hard work ethic while they were growing up. Steve owned and operated two Pubs while in England. Steve also lived in the Turks & Caicos Islands before finally moving his family to the United States so that he could pursue his flying career and give his children the opportunity for a better education.
Steve’s love of flying included hang gliding and his flight career accomplishments of obtaining his private pilot and commercial pilot licenses and being a flight instructor for Phoenix Flight School. He continued to practice his flying on his flight simulator.
Steve was always looking for a challenge in his work including the years he worked as the project manager during the building of many of the Waste Water Treatment Plants around Central Florida. He even obtained his real estate appraiser license.
Steve was most at home on the water where he and Sonja would relax on the many trips from Daytona Beach up to Saint Augustine on their Cabin Cruiser boat to enjoy the water, fresh air and sunshine for the weekends. He so loved the water and all the wonders and life under the water, he became a master scuba diver. His brother remembers the fun they had diving for lobster in the Florida Keys. Sonja remembers all the time he secretly trained and studied so that he was able to earn his Marine Captain’s License. Whatever he did he did it all the way.
Sonja and all the family confirm Steve’s determination when he set his mind on something to accomplish there was no stopping him. You could never tell him, he could not do something as he was then out to prove you wrong!
His most proud accomplishment of all was becoming a United States Citizen in 2024. Steve was loved by his family and the many friends he has made over the years. Always with a smile to everyone he met and he never met a stranger. Steve will be truly missed but the memories he left behind will live in our hearts forever.
A Celebration of Steve’s Life will be announced at a later date.
