Mr. Jean Paul Medor, peacefully passed in his sleep at his residence (as he wished) in Port Saint Lucie, Florida, on July 1, 2021 at 1:40 PM. Born in Grand-Bois, Haiti on December 23, 1930, the offspring of the late Laino and Alincia Medor. In January 1955, he married his loving wife the late Antonine Napaul, a marriage that lasted 62 years. Paul had nine kids: Guy Denis, Vital, Flore Marie “Joujou”, Hughes, Patrice, Fritz/Frantz (twins), Alix, Marleine, and adopted nephew Mario “Carlo” St. Felix…but more importantly, he was an adopted FATHER figure to many.
Professionally, he dedicated his early life to education at the rural level in Grand-Bois, Haiti. As a direct result of that profession, he was affectionately known by everyone as ‘Professè’. In November 1968, in search of better opportunities for his children, he joined his wife who had migrated to the United States earlier, and settled in Stamford, Connecticut. From 1970, until May 1993, he worked tirelessly for 24 years at Pitney Bowes as a machinist, the Saint Joseph Hospital Housekeeping Department, and numerous weekend gigs in order to provide for his family.
A devout catholic and faithful member of Saint Lucie Catholic Church, he spoke about “eternal life” ad nauseam. At last, he is resting peacefully. His mission on earth is accomplished.
He is survived by his older sister Marguerite St. Felix, his children Guy Denis and his wife Yanick; Vital and his wife Leegardie Pierre; Flore Marie “Joujou” and her husband Jean Carlo Bercy; Hughes and his wife Sharon; Patrice and his wife Arlene; Fritz and his wife Marie-Carling; Frantz and his wife Lisa; Alix and his wife Farah; Marleine; twenty-nine (29) grand-children, and fourteen 14) great-grand-children.
We, the children and grand-children, are extremely proud and forever grateful of his contributions…….THANK YOU.
In his memory, and in lieu of flowers, donations can be made toward his church, Saint Pierre, in Grand-Bois. Contact Vital Medor, 772.812.9249.
