Lawrence “Larry” N. Tadross, husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 5, 2025. He was 87 years old. Larry is survived by his wife, Bonnie; his daughters, Nicole (husband Rich) and Wendy (husband Scott); and his grandsons, Alex and Ethan. He also leaves behind countless friends, neighbors, and colleagues who admired his warmth, wit, curiosity, and the unmistakable spark he brought into every room.
Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, on March 12, 1938. A graduate of New York University, Larry served his country with honor in the U.S. Army, both on active duty and in the reserves, as part of the 77th Infantry Division Headquarters Company from 1960 to 1966.
Larry joined the family business early in life and built a distinguished career as an importer and exporter of fine Oriental rugs. His work connected him to some of the world’s most respected institutions, including the Vatican, the White House, and St. Patrick’s Cathedral. It earned him a reputation for exceptional expertise and integrity.
A true world traveler, Larry journeyed across the globe to the places where rugs were crafted by hand: Iran, China, India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Turkey, and beyond. In 1975, he became one of the first Americans invited to conduct business in China, traveling from Beijing to Urumqi and Mongolia to Hong Kong. His experiences there left a lasting impression. Later, seeking sunnier horizons, he moved his business to Stuart, Florida, where he opened Silk Road Traders, a large and well-loved retail store for fine Oriental rugs and unique home furnishings in Stuart.
Larry’s life was marked by resilience, generosity, and a deep appreciation for craftsmanship and culture. His legacy lives on in the stories he told, the journeys he took, the lives he touched, and the family who will forever hold him close in their hearts.
May his memory be eternal.
