

Marie Holloway Rivas was born on July 4, 1935 in Batesburg, South Carolina. Marie was the eldest daughter of Richard Holloway Sr. and Iola Leepod. As a young girl, she moved to Pennsauken, New Jersey. After losing her mother at an early age she assumed the responsibility of looking after her brothers and sister. In 1958 Marie married Harry E. Rivas of Key West. While Harry served in 2 wars, Marie took care of the family at home, living in many different places, including California, Alaska, and the Panama Canal Zone. Harry and Marie finally settled with her family back in Key West in the early 1970’s, until the couple retired, moving to Port St. Lucie, Florida in the late 1990’s. Marie was a generous, kind-hearted, God loving person dedicated to taking care of her family. She shared the love of bowling and going to the casinos with her husband. She worked at Key Bowl lanes and Morale, Welfare & Recreation at the Boca Chica Naval Air Base for many years. Marie was called home to rest with the Lord on Monday, October 17, 2016.
Marie was preceded in death by her daughter Ms. Margie Ann Williams ; son, Chad Edward Rivas, parents Richard, Iola, and Rebecca Holloway; and brother Lee Holloway. Forever cherishing her loving memories is her devoted, loving and supportive husband, Harry Edward Rivas; son Lamero Darnell Holloway (Katie); daughter-in-law Patricia Rivas; sister Annie Adams; brothers Robert Holloway, Jr. (Marion), Louis Holloway, Richard Holloway, Jr. (Porsha); grandchildren Shyya L. Williams, Latasha M. Williams-Moore (Myron), Jada M. Williams, Chad E. Rivas, Jr., Destiny Rivas and a host of great-grandchildren, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
