

Philomena Linta Lewis, age 88, passed away on January 4, 2026. Born on August 17, 1937, in Arouca, Trinidad and Tobago, Philomena lived a life marked by resilience, creativity, and unwavering dedication to her family.
She was the beloved daughter of Randolph Hicks and Alphonsin Marchan. Philomena was preceded in death by her siblings Angelo “Sonny” Hicks, Joseph “Jose” Hicks, Cynthia Hicks, and Philo Hicks. She is survived by her sister, Angela McShine-Jones, 89 who resides in Tobago.
Philomena was a devoted mother to her four children: Reynold Hicks, Errol Hicks, Carol Hicks, and Clyde Hicks. She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren who loved and cherished her dearly.
Philomena possessed a true entrepreneurial spirit. After leaving Trinidad, she traveled to New York, where she quickly realized it was not the place for her. She later settled in St. Croix, where she lived for 25 years with her then-husband, Peter Lewis. While there, she owned and operated Carol's Gift Shop, a reflection of her creativity and love for handcrafted goods.
Gifted with her hands and blessed with a creative eye, Philomena was known for her craftsmanship and resourcefulness. Even after relocating to Florida in the late 1980s, she continued to create and build. She operated her One of a Kind ceramic business and later became well known for her beautiful Christmas wreaths, cake sales, and food sales. Her dedication to entrepreneurship never waned, and her hard work and commitment to providing for her family were evident in everything she did.
Philomena’s legacy is one of perseverance, creativity, and love. She will be remembered for her strength, her industrious spirit, and the many ways she poured into her family and community.
Her homegoing celebration will take place at All Nations Life Development Christian Center, located at 862 SW Glenview Ct, Port St. Lucie, FL 34953.
The viewing will be held from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, followed by the funeral service from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM.
Philomena will be laid to rest at Fernhill Memorial Gardens & Mausoleum, located at 1501 S Kanner Hwy, Stuart, FL 34994.
She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
