We are sad to announce that Salvatore Michael Serio passed away, peacefully at home, on September 17, 2020. His beloved wife, Joan Serio, preceded “Sal” in death in July, leaving Sal survived by their four children, Susan Serio Snyder, Donna Serio Lapi, Dr. Victoria Swanson, and Michael Serio. He also leaves grandchildren, Christopher Snyder, Alyssa Snyder Blackshear, Jason Snyder, Brianna Cassese, Steven Cassese, and Sierra Swanson and great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn Snyder, Jayden Blackshear, and Jaiyana Blackshear. Sal’s large extended family includes son-in-law, Jack Snyder, grandson-in-law Jarvis Blackshear, grand-daughter-in-law Nicole Snyder. Honorary family members include Danielle and Michael Visconte, Vincent Catalano, Stephanie Catalano Rubilio and husband Michael Rubilio, Mark Gammon, and Rachel Marcus. Sal also leaves his dearest lifelong friend, Charles Borg and his wife Jenette Borg.
Along with Joan, the love-of-his-life, Sal is preceded in death by their grandchild Andrew Cassese, and his parents Joseph and Katie Serio.
Sal is originally from New York, with family ties in Bronx and Brooklyn. A proud United States Military Veteran, Sal served in the United States Navy before seeking reassignment to the Army, where he served as an MP during the Korean War. He and Joan made their family home on Long Island, where they raised their children. Sal retired early from the New York City Transit Authority, became a successful businessman, and reinvented himself through myriad industries where he excelled in sales, including the insurance industry and in network marketing. He loved living in Port St. Lucie, Florida with Joan, his wife of 63 years.
Visitation and a celebration of life will be held on September 21, 2020 at 4:00 p.m. at Aycock at Tradition, 12571 Tradition Parkway, Port St. Lucie, FL. Funeral Service will be held on September 21, 2020 at 6:00 pm at Aycock at Tradition, 12571 Tradition Parkway, Port St. Lucie, FL. Visitation will be held on September 22, 2020 at 10:00 am at Aycock at Tradition, 12571 Tradition Parkway, Port St. Lucie, FL. Committal Service will be held on September 22, 2020 at 12:00 pm at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, 6026 North Us Highway 1, Fort Pierce, FL
