In the tapestry of Thelma's life, her beloved husband, Colvin Fitzgerald Reid, stood as her partner and confidant. Together, they embarked on a journey of love and companionship, weathering life's storms hand in hand. Thelma and Colvin's bond was unbreakable, a testament to the enduring power of love. Colvin passed away November 23, 2023.
Thelma's heart knew the pain of loss, bidding farewell to her daughter, Angela Rock Graham, her mother, Annie Brathwaite, her sister Coral Braithwaite Wiltshire, and her brother Darnley Braithwaite. Yet, in the face of adversity, Thelma's spirit remained unbroken.
In 1976, Thelma and Colvin ventured to the United States, where they settled in Brooklyn, New York. Here, they built a home filled with love and laughter, nurturing their grandchildren Patrick Graham and Andrea Graham Farro, alongside their youngest son, Kurtis Andre Reid.
Thelma's legacy touched the lives of her children, Judith Rock, Tyrone Rock, Paulette Rock Lawson, Janice Rock-Nolan, Elvis Rock. Her additional grandchildren Sean Lawson, Sean Nolan, Erin Rock Wellesley, Jason Rock, Ryan Nolan, Evan Rock, Nicole Rock, Miles Andre Reid, and Alex Andre Reid, were blessed to know the embrace of her love. Her great-grandchildren Angela Graham Toussaint, Justice Farro, Austin Wesley, Zoe Wesley, Mya Wesley, Dylaney Lawson, Surya Nolan, Sol Nolan, Syrus Nolan, King Rock, Jason Rock, Juju Rock, Jerod Griffith, Rhenicia Graham, Serena Graham, Xander Graham, Shanna Graham. Her great-great granddaughter Asyra Toussaint who will all carry forward her spirit.
Thelma's professional endeavors were marked by dedication and excellence. She lent her talents to Manufactures-Hanover Bank while in New York. Following her relocation to Port St. Lucie, Florida, in 1987. She was a member of Morningside Church, she found solace.
Thelma's home was a sanctuary of love and laughter, where family gathered to share in her warmth and hospitality. Known affectionately as "mummy" or "granny" to all who knew her. Her laughter echoing in the hearts of those she held dear. Her culinary talents were legendary, and the memory of her sumptuous family meals will forever linger as a testament to her love for her family.
Though Thelma may have departed this world, her love and legacy endure as eternal beacons of hope and inspiration. She leaves behind cherished memories and an impact on all who had the privilege of knowing her. Thelma Lorraine Reid's life was a testament to the power of love, family, and faith.
