
Falmouth- Athalie G. Chandler, 94, died on Tuesday March 19, 2013 at her home. The daughter of Roy P. and Vera (Hinkley) Gifford, she was born in Wilton Maine, and graduated from Wilton High School and Westbrook College. For several years she was a legal secretary and a resident of Yarmouth. Athalie was a member of Falmouth Congregational Church, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, and the Holiday Rambler Recreational Vehicle Club. She always loved children, animals, bird watching, gardening, camping, and traveling with their trailer or motor home, in which they covered most of the United States and Canada. Home and family were very important to her. She also enjoyed handwork, crafts, writing and up until 2003 spending winters in Zephyrhills, FL. Athalie was predeceased by her brother Kenneth Gifford, and her sister Dorothy Winter. She is survived by her husband of 70 years, George P. Chandler of Falmouth, her daughter Cynthia C. Rogers and her husband John of Scarborough, her son Peter Chandler and his wife Kathie of Wyoming, two grandchildren, Heather Nasella and Jason Rogers, two step-grandchildren, Chalese Carlson and Kiera Packer, and two great-grandchildren Samantha and Brooke Nasella. Services are under the care of Jones, Rich & Hutchins Funeral Home, 199 Woodford St. Portland. Interment will be at Pine Grove Cemetery in Falmouth at a later date.
