

Barbara Potter Green passed away with her family by her side on Tuesday September 11, 2012. Barbara was born in Portland on July 29, 1927. Her parents Ted and Bernice (Folsom) Potter passed away when she was 3 years old. She was adopted and raised by George and Myrtle (McPhail) Potter. She graduated from Deering High School in 1945. Gray’s Business School in 1947, trained in Comptometers. Barb was employed by New England Telephone in 1947-1958, returning after her kids were grown, to complete a 24 year career in the Accounting Department. Until illness set in, Barb was an active member of the Telephone Pioneers of America.
Barbara married James H. Green in June of 1954. They raised their 4 children on Walton Street in Portland. Barbara and Jim built a wonderful home together on the Winn Road in Falmouth. She will be remembered as a kind and loving person who cared for all.
Barb was predeceased by her parents, her husband James in 2001, and a grandchild Jack Green in 2010. She is survived by her daughters Deborah Green of Portland and Jane King (husband Michael) of Windsor, sons Gregory Green of Falmouth and David (wife Kaori) Green of Brunswick and her grandchildren Molly and Sam King of Windsor and Alexander Green of Falmouth.
The Family will always be grateful for the care of the staff of County Manor Nursing Home in Coopers Mills, Maine and the Beacon Hospice Staff.
Memorial donations may be made in Barbara’s name to the Barbara Bush Neonatal Unit at Maine Medical Center as three of her grandchildren began their lives at NICU.
Family and friends are invited to attend a time of visitation from 5-7 pm Saturday September 15, 2012 at Jones, Rich & Hutchins Funeral Home 199 Woodford St. Portland, where a funeral service will be held at 11 am Sunday September 16, 2012. Interment will be held privately at Maine Veterans Cemetery in Augusta.
