

Betsy was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, on Dec. 30, 1935, the only child of Dorothy King Richmond Pickett and George Edward 'Russ' Pickett.
A graduate of Taylor Allderdice High School in Pittsburgh, Pa., Betsy majored in history at Dennison University in Granville, Ohio. While at Dennison, she was a member of the Alpha Omicron Pi sorority. Betsy was a lifetime member of Phi Alpha Theta, a national history honor society, a member of Kappa Delta Pi, a national educator's honor society, and a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
After graduating from college in 1957 with a B.A. degree, Betsy moved to Orlando, Fla., where she worked in administrative services for the local chapter of the American Red Cross. After moving back to Pittsburgh, Pa., she married Robert Andrew Limerick. Together, they had a daughter, Elizabeth Limerick of Portland, Bethel and Long Island.
As a child and adult, Betsy summered at her family's cottage on the east end of Long Island. An avid sailor, Betsy was a member of the Long Island Civic Association and the Long Island Historical Society. After moving to North Palm Beach, Fla., in 1987, she continued to return to Maine. In Florida, Betsy was a member of the Palm Beach Sailing Club and the Old Port Cove Yacht Club.
In addition to her daughter, Betsy is survived by her grandchildren, Coreen Ferguson of Henniker, N.H., Kristin Belle Ferguson of Bennington, N.H., and Alexander T. G. Limerick of Portland; and her long-time caregivers, Emily Jacobs and Evelyn Brissette.
