

Dawn Elizabeth Warden, 67, passed away peacefully with her devoted husband by her side on 11/14/25 after a long decline with frontal lobe dementia. She was born in Portland on April 7th,1958 to Gleynn E Brooks and Sandra Kimball Brooks. Dawn attended Portland Public Schools and graduated high school in 1976. She continued her education at Casco Bay college and after completion married the love of her life John Warden on August 12,1978 and have been happily married for 47 years.
They started their journey in Florida and after 2 years settled back in Portland with her beloved kitties Buff and Tigger whom she adored. She didn't have children of her own but was the loving stepmother to John's 3 kids- Johnny Jr, Melissa, and Marie. Dawn worked at Blue Cross Blue Shield/Anthem for 24 years. Dawn always lived her life to the fullest. Her and her Aunt Bev had a special bond and shared a love of horses and went riding together. She was an artist in her own right, she loved to draw, sew and later found a love of stained glass. Dawn's social life was filled with great friends, relatives, and she was very close with her sister Brenda. Dawn loved to travel. Traveling to many places in and out of the country. Her and John loved boating and cruising with friends and family.
Dawn was the most patient, kind, thoughtful, loving woman. The best friend a person could ask for. Dawn is preceded in death by her brother Donald Elwyn Brooks. She is survived by her husband John Warden, her mother Sandra Brooks and father Gleynn Brooks, sister Brenda Soper and husband David. John's children John Warden Jr and wife Sue, Melissa Lewis and husband Paul, and Marie Hedemann, as well her niece Bethany Esposito and 6 grandsons and 4 great granddaughters.
Friends and family are invited to attend Dawn’s graveside service on Saturday November 22nd at 11 AM at Brooklawn Memorial Park, 2002 Congress Street in Portland. A reception will follow.
