Edith was born in Portland on July 23, 1917, the daughter of the late William and Amelia Conrad.
Edith was a very caring person and had a wonderful impact on so many people. Whenever someone would walk into the room where Edith would be, she would greet them with a wave of her hand and a smile.
Edith certainly was a lady that knew what she wanted and didn't want. Even without a word spoken, people knew exactly what she wanted or didn't want. If Edith didn't want to be bothered by anyone, she would have her eyes closed and would pretend she was sleeping, but most of the time Edith was very excepting of companionship.
Edith enjoyed a good reading of a book with a friend or staff person. She had a passion for shopping for clothing, jewelry, pocketbooks and hats. Edith was very fashionable and always presented herself as a very dignified lady. Edith enjoyed being busy, whether it was outside soaking up the sunshine with her favorite hat on, doing some work in the flower garden, going for picnics with friends, or at home Edith would be busy doing her artwork.
Edith will be missed by all who cared for her and loved her.
Funeral services for Edith will be held this Friday, Jan. 25, 2013, at 11 a.m., at the Jones, Rich & Hutchins Funeral Home, 199 Woodford St., Portland.
