

She was born May 5, 1926, in Nyack, New York to William Cranston and Anna Allen Cranston. Her father was a CPA and her mother a nurse. She was raised in Hastings-on-Hudson, New York.
Elizabeth graduated from the College of William and Mary, Virginia. A member of Phi Mu Sorority, she was an active lifelong member of the American Association of University Women. An accountant, Elizabeth began her career in New York City at Booze, Allen & Hamilton. She spent the latter part of her career as Corporate Tax Accountant for American States Insurance. She also served as treasurer on various boards. Elizabeth was pre-deceased by her husband, Curtis S. Gibson, a radio and television news director. Their careers led them to live in Wheeling, West Virginia, Orlando, Florida; Norwalk, Connecticut and Indianapolis, Indiana. Elizabeth enjoyed spending her summers in Lyme, New Hampshire and Bradford, Vermont. She retired to Topsham, Maine.
She is survived by her five children and their spouses/significant others: Scott Gibson and Terri Tylo, of Norwalk, CT, Scottie and William Robinson, of Essex, MA, Christopher Gibson and Mary Hiers, of Hallowell, ME, Nancy Gibson and James Bailinson, of Cumberland, ME, and Bruce and Julia Gibson, of North Miami, FL. Elizabeth had four grandchildren: Julia and Peter Bailinson, of Cumberland, ME, Jeremiah Hiers, of Boston, MA, and MacKenzie Gibson, of New York, NY. She is also survived by her brother, William Cranston, of Lyme, NH.
Elizabeth was a member of the Congregational Church in Cumberland, Maine. A service will be held at a later date. Memorial donations should be made to the College of William & Mary Annual Fund, PO Box 1693, Williamsburg, VA 23187.
