

She was born on December 5th,1921 in Portland, the daughter of the late Carl and Mildred (O’Neal) Johnson. She was a 1940 graduate of Portland High School.
Throughout her life, Evelyn worked as a professional server/hostess in many hotels and resorts in Las Vegas, the Northeast and winters in Florida spending 17 winters working alongside her best friend, Frances Colello. Later in her life, Evelyn worked for PROP and was a Foster Grandparent in the Portland school system until her retirement at the age of 87. Summers would be spent in California with her son, Bill, and his family vacationing in Lake Tahoe, Vegas and Hawaii.
She was a communicant of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Portland.
Evelyn enjoyed walking, reading, shopping and making afghans for her family.
She was predeceased by her sons Jeffrey Greaves in 1998 and William Greaves in 2012.
Evelyn is survived by her daughter Carlene Aceto of Portland, a daughter-in-law, Joanne Greaves of Pleasanton, CA, a sister; Beverly Adjutant of Saco, grandchildren; Erica Berube and her husband Jim of Auburn, Anthony Aceto and his wife Kaitlin currently living in Germany, Danielle Bailey and her husband Ryan of Patterson, CA, Marcus Rodriquez and his wife Suzy of Pleasanton, CA, Rodney Rodriquez and his wife Tracy of Patterson, CA, Jeffrey Greaves of Austin, TX, and Sheena Greaves of Falmouth. She is also survived by ten great-grandchildren, Lauren, Julia, Lilliana, Maya, Jordan, Noelle, Scarlett, Samantha, Isabella, and Grace including several nieces and nephews.
A period of visitation for family and friends will be held this Monday, September 30th from 4 to 7 PM at Jones, Rich & Hutchins Funeral Home, 199 Woodford St. Portland; where a funeral service for Evelyn will be held on Tuesday, October 1st at 12:00 PM. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery in Falmouth.

The family wishes to thank the staff at St. Joseph’s for the exceptional care given to their mother during her stay there. The family would especially like to thank all of the staff in Unit C for their care, compassion and love given Evelyn.
