Evelyn Huard

Evelyn was born in New Brunswick, Canada on October 2, 1933; the daughter of the late James and Bessie (Dubay) McDonald. She grew up in Fort Fairfield where she worked picking potatoes and developed a hard work ethic. She later moved to the Portland area, and for over 25 years worked at Maine Medical Center. Evelyn also worked for a brief period of time at Sam's Club.

Evelyn loved to test her luck at the casinos. She enjoyed trips to Vegas, Reno and especially Foxwoods. The thrill and excitement of hitting the jackpot always put a smile on Evelyn’s face. She enjoyed shopping with her family and friends, family gatherings, and a big bowl of popcorn while she watched Wheel of fortune. Her outgoing, and bubbly personality could always bring joy to room full of friends.

Predeceasing Evelyn was a son Gerald Haines, a grandson William “Billy” Bean, a sister Eugene Giles, and a brother Arnold McDonald, and her longtime friend and companion of many years Dana Huard.

Surviving are her children, Joanne Pettengill of Westbrook, Patricia Haines of Biddeford, James Haines of Biddeford, Karen Winchester and her husband Warren II of Buxton; sisters Elizabeth Vaught, Leona Connors, Mary Johnson; brothers Lewis McDonald, Franklin McDonald, and sister in law Connie McDonald. Also surviving are thirteen grandchildren, Ashley, Ian, Linda, Michelle, David, Nicolas, Christopher, Kathleen, Brandon, Casey, Teagan, Anthony, Vincent; nine great-grandchildren Jason, Bayli, Samantha, Ella, Nolan, Ben, Isabella, Khloe, and Ambyr, and several nieces and nephews.

A period of visitation for Evelyn will be held this Wednesday from10 am to 12 pm at the Jones, Rich & Hutchins Funeral Home, 199 Woodford St., Portland ME; where a funeral service will be held following visitation at 12:00 pm.
