

Francesco Paul Piscopo, 80, of South Portland passed away Tuesday November 5 ,2013 at Maine Medical Center after a brief illness. Born in Portland, on July 8, 1933, he was the son of Carmine Thomas and Virginia Peirobello Piscopo. He is predeceased by his parents, his twin brother Michael, and his beloved wife Grace Caston Piscopo.
Frank attended Portland schools. His first job was at The Portland Stove Foundry. He left there to work with his wife, Grace when she purchased The Cookie Jar Pastry Shop. When the business was sold to Tom and Donna in 1981, Frank moved on to Konica Inc. and worked till its closing 25 years later. He then worked at Sam’s Club for a brief time before returning to work for his son Tom at the bakery until he retired in 2011.
Frank was very proud of his Italian Heritage. He had a great love for Italian Opera, especially Mario Lanza. He especially loved Italian Food. Coffee was his favorite beverage. He actually wore a path in the floor to the coffee maker. He was well known for his “whistling”…one could hear him anywhere. Ikey was a true Patriot fan, but his greatest past time was watching Turner Classic Movies. He loved the old classics and collected movie memorabilia. Frank Sinatra was is all time favorite singer. He could sit and listen for hours, he knew every song and movie Sinatra ever made. Boxing was another great love. Frank could recite the stats of every boxer, their weight class, what round they were knocked out in, he attended many of the fights put on in Portland.
Frank, Pops, Dad, “Ikey”, were his nickname’s and his most favorite was “Grampy.”
He leaves two sons, Thomas A and his wife Donna Piscopo of So. Portland, Michael P. and his wife Mary Jo Piscopo of Portland, his sister Lenora (Piscopo) Evans of Florida, 3 Grandsons, Thomas C. Piscopo and his girlfriend Rachael, Nicholas A. Piscopo Michael J. Piscopo, Granddaughter , Angela Louros and a great-granddaughter Hannah Grace Manchester and the family beloved dog, “Teddy.”
Grampy loved his family, his “little sister” Lenora, and was very proud of his sons, Tom and Mike. His grandchildren meant the world to him and loved them dearly. He never missed a chance to tell people how handsome Thomas, Nick, and Michael were. Angela and Hannah were the apples of his eye. Frank was grateful for all the support Donna and Mary Jo gave him in the years after his beloved wife Grace died.
Relatives and friends are invited to a time of visitation of Wednesday November 13, 2013 from 4 to7 pm at Jones, Rich & Hutchins Funeral Home, 199 Woodford St. Prayers will be recited at 9AM at the funeral home for Frank on Thursday November 14, 2013 to be followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10AM at Holy Cross Catholic Church, So Portland with Msgr. Michael Henchal as Celebrant. Interment will follow in the family lot at New Calvary Cemetery, So. Portland. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the charity of your choice.
