Geraldine Marie Roberts

She was born in Brunswick, Me. the daughter of Everett and Clara Saucier Jacques and attended schools in Topsham. She received her GED at Portland High School in 1980.

On May 28, 1955, she married James Leeman Roberts at St. John's Catholic Church, Brunswick. She spent the following 25 years raising her five children.

Prior to her marriage, she worked as waitress in local restaurants. She worked at Verney Textile Mill in Brunswick into her twenties. She was later employed at Canteen Services and Hannaford.

Her hobbies included crocheting, square dancing and cooking. She was well known for her famous pork pies. She loved any and all holidays, which meant her family would be gathering to celebrate.

She was predeceased by her husband in 1997, her parents, two sisters, Marcella T. Cloutier, Joanne J. Roberts and a brother, Raymond R. Jacques. She is survived by 3 sons, James II and his wife Linda of Saco, Daniel A. and his wife Laurie of Cape Elizabeth, Paul P. of Florida, 2 daughters, Joanna M Hooper and her husband Joseph of Scarborough and Sharon A. Roberts of So. Portland, three sisters, Priscilla A. Hart and her husband Charles, Laura L. Pacholski and her husband Marion, Mary T. "Bonnie" Boucher, 1 brother, Donald F. Jacques and his wife Stasia, 2 sister-in-laws, Priscilla Jacques and Nancy Jacques, six grandchildren, Anne Hooper, Alicia (Hooper) Thompson, Derek, Deven and Dylan Roberts and Jennifer Roberts and great grandchildren, Deanna and Cameron.

Relatives and friends may call at the Jones, Rich & Hutchins Funeral Home, 199 Woodford St., Portland, Thursday,2-4 & 6-8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 10 am at St. John's Catholic Church, Pleasant St., Brunswick. Burial will follow in West Bowdoin Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to United Way of Greater Portland, 1 Canal Plaza, Portland, Me. 04101 or the Southern Maine Agency on Aging, 136 US Rt. 1, Scarborough, Me. 04074.
