Gertrude was a strong Baptist, from First Baptist Church where she wrote songs for the church given to her by the Lord. She also wrote songs for the church that the choir would sing. She loved to cook and play the harmonica.
Gertrude touched every person she came in contact with and left a lifelong impression. She will be very dearly missed.
Gertrude is predeceased by her husband Chester Butler Sr. and her son; Chester Butler, Jr. She is survived by her son; Larry Butler, daughter; Bonita Dube and 8 grandchildren.
Friends and family are invited to a time of visitation on Thursday September 29, 2016 from 10:00AM to 11:00AM in the Jones, Rich & Hutchins Funeral Home 199 Woodford St. Portland, Maine. A funeral service will follow visitation at 11:00AM in the funeral home.
