Gilda A. Tilton

Born March 1, 1928 in Portland, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Henry and Mary Josephine Cepriano Fields. She was a life long resident of Portland and attended Portland Schools. She married Donald O. Tilton Sept. 24, 1949 in Portland.

Gilda loved to travel with her family and her husband who was a career Coast Guardman.

After their children left home, she and her husband loved to travel to California, Donald's home state, Arizona and Florida to watch the Red Sox. She and Donald visited all 48 lower states during their travels. She loved to play bingo, loved her Poodles and life itself. She was a member of St. Peters Roman Catholic Church all her life.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by four brothers, Henry, Kenneth, Donald and Larry and one sister, Marian Hawley. Besides her husband, she is survived by four sons, Blaise A., Michael D. and his wife Jeannie, Craig M. and his wife Dawn and Keith A.; her sister, Amelia McCarthy; 26 grandchildren and great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to a time of visitation Tuesday Jan. 17, 2012 from 6 - 8 p.m. at the Jones, Rich & Hutchins Funeral Home 199 Woodford St. Portland. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery South Portland.
