

She was born on January 1, 1969 in Obbo, Magwi County, Eastern Equator State, South Sudan. She was born of her late mother Aringo Otta (from Oyere subclan in Obbo) and her late father Okee Alimu (from pokongo subclan in obbo)
Around 1974, they fled to Uganda because of the first movement in Southern Sudan. She began her primary education from 1974 to 1978 in a refugee camp in Uganda. In 1979 they decided to come back to southern Sudan.
In 1984, she got married and God blessed her with a beautiful family of 10 children, 6 boys and 4 girls.
In 2005, she arrived in Portland Maine and started to work as a volunteer in a shelter. Then she joined Whole Foods Market in 2007 until 2016 when health issues made it impossible for her to continue working.
She is predeceased by two of her sons. She is survived by four sons and four daughters including 20 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Friends and family are invited to a time visitation on Friday November 22, 2024, from 4-6 pm at Jones, Rich and Barnes Funeral Home in Portland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday November 23 at 10 am at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Portland. Burial in Calvary Cemetery in South Portland will follow.
