She was born on September 20, 1948 in Auburn, Maine to Aldon (Jake) and Alta Kaulakis. She was an only child. Kathy graduated from Edward Little in 1966 and the University of Maine Nursing Program in 1970. She was an outstanding nurse for over forty years. Her nursing skills ranged from neurology to medical surgery and eventually she attained a master’s degree in gerontology from Boston University.
Maine Medical was her base and she was also a nursing instructor for the University of Maine up until her retirement. She was well-loved by her patients, peers, and clinical staff. She possessed a “people” skill in her work as well as in her friendships. Kathy was a member of the Falmouth Foreside Garden Club for many years as well as serving as its president twice.
Kathy loved to travel and garden and took many trips with her husband Hector (Lee) Nadeau. The family would like to thank the nurses and doctors at both Northern Lights and Maine Medical who tended to Kathy with expertise and compassion in her final days.
She is predeceased by her husband Hector (Lee) Nadeau and her stepdaughter Mary Lynn Noyes and husband Edward.
Kathy is survived by her stepdaughter Anne Nadeau Mason (Caleb), with whom she shared a very special love and friendship; her cousin and close friend Barbara Kaul Buxton (Rick, Jeff, Sarah, Andrew, Amy); step-grandchildren Will Mason(Erin), Sarah Mason Brookings (Alex), and Christopher Noyes (April); cousins Ann Simard (Ron), Stephen P. Apsega, aunt Mildred Bansmer; and step great-grandchildren Bella Noyes and Teddy Brookings, both of whom she adored. She also leaves her beloved, faithful Cocker Spaniel Poppy.
A Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at Holy Martyrs Church in Falmouth has yet to be finalized.
If desired, contributions may be made in Kathy’s memory to Animal Welfare Society, 46 Holland Road, Kennebunk, Maine 04043; or Cocker Spaniel Rescue of New England, Inc., PO Box 162, Greenfield, NH 03047.
