Born on March 29, 1941, in Portland, Maine, Linda was the daughter of the late David ‘Bud’
Armstrong and Louise (Caswell) Armstrong. She grew up in Portland, Falmouth, Florida, and
Cumberland, and graduated from Greely Institute in 1959. After working at the Telephone
Company, she married Richard Andrews in 1963, and together they raised three children in
Yarmouth, Maine.
Linda's strong sense of community was evident in her active participation in the Junior League,
Village Improvement Society, and other local organizations. A passionate figure skater, Linda
was a founding member of the Rocky Coast Figure Skating Club. Her adventurous spirit led her
to move to Pownal, where she renovated an old farmhouse into a charming Bed and Breakfast.
In later years, she moved to Corinth, Maine, where she lived with her life partner, Ken Day. They
spent many joyful moments together and with family and friends at the camp on Moosehead
Lake. Linda was known for her warmth, kindness, and her ability to bring people together,
whether through her legendary blueberry muffins or her unforgettable multi-course meals.
Her intense sense of adventure led her to travel. She loved the outdoors and enjoyed boating,
skiing, skating, hiking and gardening. She loved all beaches, with Higgins Beach in
Scarborough being the most memorable to her.
A gifted artist, Linda’s talents spanned many creative fields. She was an expert seamstress,
designing her own patterns and creating intricately beaded figure skating dresses that earned
admiration at competitions. Her beaded jewelry and meticulously crafted hooked rugs were
treasured by family and friends. In addition, she had a diverse career, including working as a
hostess at Homewood Inn, interior design, and owning a skating equipment store. She retired
after many years of serving children with disabilities as an Ed Tech at MSAD 51 and MSAD 62,
a role she cherished deeply due to her deep held belief that education should be accessible to
all.
Linda was also a dedicated mother, always present at her children’s activities, including hockey,
competitive figure skating, and horseback riding. A passionate photographer, she captured
countless memories of her loved ones, which will be forever cherished. As her family grew to
include grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Linda continued to offer her unwavering love and
support for their endeavors.
Linda’s legacy lives on through her creativity, generosity, and the lasting impact she made on
those who knew her. She will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to experience
her warmth, humor, and the joy she brought to every life she touched.
Linda is survived by Life Partner, Ken Day; Brother Jeffrey Armstrong and his wife, Darlene;
