Falmouth- Marolyn Andreasen passed away on March 28, 2025 after a long, courageously-fought battle with Dementia.
God was good to Marolyn. She had no memory of her husband Richard passing away last year. In these recent months, she said she saw him every day and commented about how young he had become. Finally, a week or so before her passing, Marolyn stated that Richard visited her and asked her to go with him. This is easy to understand because Richard always took good care of Marolyn and she him. They met in 1955 and then shortly after her graduation from Portland High School in June of 1958, Richard and Marolyn were married on August 9, 1958. They had been together almost every day since they met in 1955.
Marolyn had a very kind, protective love for animals. She and Richard always had rescue pets in their home, who were loved as family. Both Marolyn and Richard had a common interest in keeping their home beautiful, so they worked very well together towards their goal. They enjoyed being at home. Marolyn worked on the inside of their home enjoying cooking, cleaning and decorating while Richard was quite a handyman who could fix most anything around their home. He also enjoyed maintaining impeccable gardens and outside grounds, which were very special to him and to Marolyn.
Both Marolyn and Richard kept in close contact with their families and extended families throughout their lives, as they were able. Years ago, they spent a lot of time with the families. It made them happy to know their nieces and nephews. As time moved along and everyone got busier, Marolyn would often call her siblings and sisters-in-law just to keep in contact by saying hello. Family was very important to her.
Marolyn enjoyed long rides with her family exploring Maine and New Hampshire, local events and amusement parks, going to camp, to the lakes and the beaches, bowling, square dancing and taking pottery class. Marolyn (and Richard) had enjoyed a circle of lifelong friends. She always reminisced with a smile about those many happy, fun-filled memories of their times together.
Marolyn was pre-deceased by her parents Max M. Greenwald (Bessie) of Portland, Maine and Phyllis E. Mechlosky of Falmouth, Maine. Marolyn’s husband, Richard Andreasen, passed away from complications from Dementia on May 4, 2024.
Marolyn is survived by two daughters, Karen Bennett (Robert) and Susan Heins (Jeffrey), two granddaughters, Katherine Bennett and Victoria Skillin (Lee), and two Great-Grandsons, Waylon and Milo Skillin, all of Falmouth, Maine. Marolyn is also survived by two sisters, Dolores Davis of Lyman, Maine and Barbara Williams (Daniel) of Hornbrook, California, as well as a bonus sister, Nancy Allen of Waterboro,, Maine. She is survived by one brother, Richard Greenwald (Laura) of Gardiner, Maine and is predeceased by one brother, Harold Greenwald (Virginia) of Falmouth, Maine. Marolyn is survived by three sisters-in-law, Catherine Andreasen (Robert), Joy Andreasen (John), both of Cumberland, Maine and Judith Reed (Ronald) of Standish, Maine. Marolyn is also survived by some cousins and many nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held in May in honor of Marolyn at Pine Grove Cemetery in Falmouth, Maine, where she will be laid to rest in peace alongside her husband.
