Mary Louise Davis

Portland-Mary Louise Davis age 83 of Portland died Wednesday July 24, 2013 at the Saint Josephs Manor. She was born in Cambridge, MA on March 27, 1930 and at a young age moved with her family to Portland residing on St. John Street. She was the only child of Walter A. and Mary Francis (Roach) Pettengill. She was a graduate of Deering High School in 1950. Mary Lou married Chester E. Davis Jr. on December 1, 1951 and together raised four children. Mary Lou retired from the Portland Country Club in Falmouth after 25 years of service. She enjoyed camping, deer and moose hunting with her husband, and was an avid NASCAR and New England sports fan. Her favorite teams were the Red Sox and Bruins. Mary Lou also enjoyed travelling to Las Vegas and playing Bingo.

She is survived by her loving husband of 62 years Chester Jr. of Portland, two Daughters Carol Ann Pelletier and Laurie J. Davis both of Portland, two sons Glen E. Davis and wife Cathy Trynor Davis of Portland and Chester E. Davis III and Fiancé’ Patty Geary of Windham, grandchildren Lance Pelletier and girlfriend Joyelle Mitchell, Stacey A. Pelletier, Jason Davis, Dani-Le Davis, Matthew Davis, and Amy Davis, Great Grandchildren Kaylee, Cameron, Ellie, Faith, Hope, and Emily, many cousins, one aunt Elizabeth Pettengill of Kissimee, Florida, and a special friend Betty Trynor.

In Lieu of flowers donations in Mary Lou’s Memory can be made to the American Lung Association or the American Heart Association.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a time of Visitation on Sunday July 28, 2013 from 4 to 8 P.M. at the Jones, Rich & Hutchins Funeral Home 199 Woodford St. Portland, Maine. A Funeral service will be held on Monday July 29, 2013 at 12:00PM in the funeral home with Rev. Phil Shearman officiating. Interment will follow at Forest City Cemetery.
