Dr. Mary Ann McRae

Dr. McRae was born in Dayton, Ohio, Nov. 5, 1948, to the late Albert and Rita (Dahlinghaus) McRae.

Our world is a little sadder with the passing of our cherished friend Mary Ann. She was kind and generous and loved by those who knew her. University of Dayton was her home for her undergraduate studies. She attended Ohio State University for medical school and OB/GYN residency. She completed a reproductive endocrinology fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania. She was an Associate Professor at Southern Illinois University and established a private practice with Dr. Phillip Galle in Springfield, Illinois in

Her work life brought joy to many Central Illinois families, as her practice of Infertility Medicine for over 30 years brought many babies into the world. She also volunteered as a Guardian ad Litem in the Springfield, Illinois area for many years. Throughout her adult life she enjoyed traveling, skiing, tennis, boating, girlfriend time, family time, bicycling, sunning, fruit and cheese (she never met a cheese she did not like), clothes shopping, and entertaining. She enjoyed making candy at Christmas for her many friends. Her birds, Callie and Louie, and her cat Sheba kept her company (her feather and fur babies are all comfortable in new homes). She was a friend to Lincoln Land Community College and hosted several glittering fundraiser dinner parties to benefit the school.

Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents, and brother James Henry McRae who died of polio at age 5.

She is survived by her sister Jan Broda (Larry) and her niece Jessica Broda, her nephew Zachary Broda, and her great-niece Madison Broda.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Legacy Memory Care for the compassionate and devoted care they gave to Dr. McRae during the final chapter of her life.
