Metry A Kelly Jr.

Ocala, FL. - Metry A Kelly, Jr.,56 passed away suddenly on November 28, 2010 in Ocala, Fl. where he has lived since 2000. He was born in Portland, Me., the son of Metry Sr. and Mary Kelly.

Metry had three strong passions, his family, his music and his cars. He was an accomplished musician playing drums, bass guitar and singing. He performed throughout New England for more than 35 years in various bands, having started his first band at age 11.

Metry also had a love for fast cars which led him to the sport of drag racing. He and his two sons spent many hours in the garage and on the tracks. Sometimes he would be on the track and sometimes he would be the announcer at New England Drag Way or Oxford Drag Way. His pride & joy was his Dodge Daytona "The Yankee Peddler.

Metry loved spending time with his family & friends. He was always ready for a good time and lots of laughing.

Metry, along with his two sons, owned Driving Matter Ocala, a full service Driving School.

Metry was predeceased by his parents. He leaves behind his loving wife of 38 years, Genie Kelly, sons Jaimie (Katrine)Kelly, of Auburn, Me. and Joel (Shannon)Kelly of Ocala, Fl , 4 grand-children, a soon to arrive grand-daughter, sister-in-law Jill (Billy)Hazlewood, of Westbrook, Me, a special niece & nephew, sister-in-law Julie Zeitman and Mother-in-law Marjorie Zeitman both of Portland.

Visitation will be from 9 – 10a.m. Saturday December 4, 2010 at the Jones, Rich & Hutchins Funeral Home 199 Woodford St. Portland.

Funeral services will be Saturday 10a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Jeff McIlwain officiating.

Interment will be in Brooklawn Memorial Park Portland.
