Nancy Shaw

Portland- Nancy (Greer) Shaw, 68, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday July 19, 2011. The daughter of Elton and Mimi (Lajah Houtari) Greer she was born in Portland ME on April 10, 1943. She attended South Portland Schools and met her childhood sweetheart at a dance at city hall. After three years of courting they were married at Emanuel Baptist Church in Portland, on July 9, 1960. The newlyweds lived in a little apartment in South Portland for three years saving to buy their house in Portland, where they have lived for over forty years and where they raised their four children. The family enjoyed going on cruises and spending time by their pool in the backyard. Nancy loved to entertain , she also loved volunteering at the Victorian Mansion and at the polls every year. She worked at Fairchild Industries for several years, leaving to follow her love for the elderly working with Home Health Services. Most recently Nancy worked in the demonstration department for BJ’s Wholesale Club. She is survived by her husband Howard of 51 years, four children Dawn Mimi Daniel, Craig S. Shaw, Ronda A. Howard, and Robert E. Shaw, twelve grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren, two brothers Edward Greer and Alfred Greer, and three sisters Evelyn Moran, Elinore Murray, and Sonja Enman. Family and friends are invited to attend a time of visitation on Sunday July 24, 2011 from 2:00-4:00 PM and from 6:00-8:00 PM at Jones Rich and Hutchins Funeral Home 199 Woodford Street, Portland. A funeral Service will be held on Monday July 25, 2011 at 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Interment will immediately follow the service at Evergreen Cemetery, 672 Steven’s Ave Portland.
