Scarborough, Maine-Phyllis C. Lowatchie age 90 of Portland Quietly slipped away early Friday evening at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough. Her grandfather, Gustaf A. Henriksson, was a Finnish immigrant who had six children. Her mother Lillian M. Henriksson, had three children Emily Logan Zemla, Charles H. Logan, and Phyllis Christine. Phyllis was educated in the Portland Schools and was saddened when the Nathan Clifford School closed. She was a sweet gentle woman whose personality and humor endeared her to all she knew. Her extended family was large but her immediate family was small.
She is survived by two sons Gary Lowatchie and his wife Mary of Falmouth and Michael Bridges of Falmouth, Granddaughter Tanya Haller and her husband Walter of N. Yarmouth, Granddaughter Chelsea Bridges of Yarmouth, and Grandson Matt Bridges of Lancaster, PA.
In 2003, Phyllis and her cousin Joy Read Katz of Holly Hill, Florida prompted Gary Lowatchie to do a Henriksson Family History which grew to a 200 page book that was sent to 36 family members.
Special Thanks to the staff of Portland Center for Assisted Living for four and a half years of wonderful care to Nana. They will miss her as much as our family.
At the request of Phyllis, services will be private. Interment will be at Forest City Cemetery in South Portland. Arrangements are under the direction of Jones, Rich & Hutchins Funeral Home 199 Woodford St. Portland, Maine.
