

Portland- Robert E. Davis, 75, beloved husband of Rebekah L. Davis (Betsy) passed away peacefully in his wife’s arms, at his home on February 17, 2013. He was born in Portland ME, on November 30, 1937 to Marguerite E. Spencer. He attended Augusta schools, and graduated from Cony High School in 1956. Bob served in the Naval reserves for two years (54-56). He was an active Free Mason for many years and Worshipful Master of the Cornerstone Lodge (80-81). He worked for Southworth Machine Company in Portland for 31 years and he was a part-time Deputy Sherriff for the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Department, and most recently he was a bus driver/assistant for the Portland School Department. His interests included woodworking and model railroading. He was predeceased by his mother Marguerite and by his daughter Cathy Jo Seavey. He is survived his wife Betsy and children Bob Jr. and his wife Karen of Gorham, Debra Jensen, and her husband Jack of Falmouth, Brenda Davis of Augusta, Michael of Portland, Jay Gillis and his wife Lisa of Greenland N.H., and Jolie Sandora of Portland, 13 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren. Family and friends are invited to attend a time of visitation on Friday February 22, 2013 from 4:00-7:00 PM at Jones, Rich & Hutchins Funeral Home 199 Woodford St. Portland. There will be a Masonic service presented by the Cornerstone Lodge at 6:00 PM. A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, February 23, 2013 at 11:00 AM at North Deering Congregational Church, 1364 Washington Ave, Portland, with Rev. Mark E. Rustin officiating. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Bob’s memory to either North Deering Congregational Church, or to Hospice of Southern Maine 180 U.S. 1 #1 Scarborough, ME 04074.
