He was born on June 28, 1954, to Geraldine (Weymouth) and Chester Ham.
He is survived by his three brothers, Chester Ham of Portland, Richard (Julie) Hamm of Westbrook, and John Ham of Portland, his nieces, nephew and many cousins. And his caring and loving friend Sheila.
Robert was predeceased by his parents.
Bob was a friend to all. He loved to laugh and getting together with family and friends.
His life long disability did not stop him. Bob enjoyed spending time with his close friends Barbara and Jonathan going on camping trips to Belgrade and day trips to Fort Popham. Bob was always up to going out for a good cup of coffee at the Brown Dog Café, Dunkin Donuts and McDonald’s.
Bob participated in the Special Olympics where he earned a medal.
Bob worked at WalMart for almost seven years. He was very proud when he earned his 5 year pin back in 2010. From 2012-2014 Bob visited the Freeport Fire Department on a regular basis to bake brownies and chocolate chip cookies for the fire fighters. He would also visit the animal shelter to make dog treats.
Thank you to all the staff that took care of Bob over the years in Freeport and Brunswick. Bob made lots of friends and he loved them so. So many of the staff were like family to Bob. He would always make them laugh and keep them on their toes.
Bob leaves a big void in our lives and will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
Family and friends are invited to attend a time of visitation for Bob on Saturday, June 29, 2024 from 10-11 AM followed by a memorial service at 11:00 AM at Jones, Rich & Barnes Funeral Home, 199 Woodford St. Portland. Bob will be interred with his parents on Monday, July 1, 2024 at 10:00 AM at Forest City Cemetery in South Portland.
