

South Portland, ME- Robert W. Whynot, Sr., passed away on May 4, 2023, surrounded by his loving family and friends. Bob grew up on Douglas St. in Portland and loved playing baseball. He loved fishing with his parents Lucille and George Whynot and his siblings Gail, Doug, Anita, Rusty, and EJ. He went to Portland High school where he met the love of his life Judith (Pardue) Whynot. They got married in Falmouth Maine on October 4, 1968. He had two sons, Bobby and Tommy. He was drafted on November 8, 1968 and served in the Vietnam War. He returned home in June of 1970 and was awarded the bronze star for his service. Returning home from the war, Bob got a job driving an 18-wheeler, a job he did for 50 years, eventually owning his own truck. He has five grandchildren, Bethany, Joey, Emily, Megan and Carter; two great- grandchildren, Jack and Cayson. He loved his family and friends and was always the life of the party. He loved to dance and his nickname was the pinball wizard for his love of pinball and video games. Taking his wife and sons fishing, camping and for long drives were more of his favorite things to do.
A Celebration of his Life will be held from 1-4 pm on Sunday, May 21, 2023, at Jones, Rich & Barnes Funeral Home, 199 Woodford St. Portland.
