Cumberland- Rose Ann (Ciriello) Curneil,89, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 27, 2025 in Portland. The daughter of Gimmattisto “John” and Giovana “Jenny” (Vasile) Ciriello, she was born in Portland on October 21, 1935. She was raised on Munjoy Hill and attended Portland Schools graduating from Portland High School.
She met her future husband Robert on a blind date, and they were married soon after. She worked in food services in the Cumberland school system and worked as a waitress in the family business at The Sportsman’s Grill. She enjoyed most spending time with her family, especially Sunday meals. She also enjoyed knitting, word searches and Bingo.
She was predeceased by her husband Robert Curneil of 63 years, her son David Curneil, and her two sisters Pauline Wike, and Dolores DiMillo.
She is survived by her children Mark Curneil and his wife Martha, Michelle Curneil and her husband William DiTomaso, Jeff Curneil and his wife Rosanne, and her daughter in law Janet Pazik. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Alison, Casey, Aleisha, Robbie, Stacie, Eric, Katrina, Samuel, and Chelsey, and her 9 great grandchildren, and her sister Annette Francis.

Family and friends are invited to attend a time of visitation on Monday, September, 1, 2025 from 4-6 PM at Jones, Rich and Barnes Funeral Home, 199 Woodford St. Portland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, September 2, 2025 at 10:00 AM at St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church, 72 Federal St. Portland. Interment will follow at New Calvary Cemetery in South Portland, followed by a reception at the Italian Heritage Center, 40 Westland Ave, Portland.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be in Rose Ann’s memory to St. Peter’s Church, or the Resident Account at the Barron Center.
