

Russell V. Tuck Jr. died July 31, 2011, at Maine Medical Center, with his family at his side, following a long illness. He was born on October 30, 1947, in Boston, MA, the son of Russell V. Sr. and Evangeline (Oliver) Tuck.
He graduated from Bladensburg High School, in Bladensburg, MD. Following graduation he enlisted in the US Navy, and served in Viet Nam. When he completed his service, he returned home to Maryland. He worked for Safeway Foods.
His family moved to Maine in 1971. When visiting his family in Maine, he met Anna Minervino who was a neighbor and friend to the family. They fell in love the day they met and were married five months later. Russ and Anna had one daughter, Lisa Ann Tuck.
Russ went to work for Burnham and Morrill. While working on the line, Russ attended college at night, and earned his Bachelor's degree in Accounting from Westbrook College. He then became a Supervisor, and from there went into the Accounting Dept.
In 1989 he developed pain in his left leg and within a short time it was amputated. He was a very courageous man and within two weeks following his amputation he returned to work. He ended up having a second and third amputation. He has suffered much in his lifetime, with a bilateral pulmonary embolism, and open heart surgery.
In 1994, Russell and Anna lost their only daughter, Lisa Ann. Russell and Anna raised Lisa's daughter, Jessica Lynn Penny, with the assistance of her father, Bob Penny. Russell was very involved in Jessica's life and activities. Jessica went to Portland's Sister City in Japan, where she played basketball on a sports exchange. After she returned from Japan, the Japanese teams came to Portland. Russell entertained two Japanese girls in his home for two weeks. He never felt like he was handicapped.
Russell deeply loved his wife and daughter. He loved his granddaughter and was very proud of her and her accomplishments. He loved and was loved by his mother and father, and all of his sisters and brothers. Russell will be very sadly missed by everyone who knew him.
In addition to his daughter, Lisa Ann Tuck, Russell is predeceased by his parents, Russell and Evangeline Tuck, his brother, Thomas Norman Tuck, his mother- and father-in-law, Lucia and Stephen Minervino, and his brothers-in-law, Stephen Minervino, and James Martin.
He is survived by his wife, Anna, and his granddaughter, Jessica Lynn.
His five sisters: Mrs. Geraldine Hill and her husband, Oakley B. Hill; Ms. Olwyn Tuck and her husband, Ron Dionne; Ms. Jennyne Tuck; Mrs. Renee Donovan and her husband, Jeffrey Donovan and Ms. Karen Tuck. Russell is also survived by one brother, William A Tuck Sr. and his wife, Mary Lorena Tuck.
Russell is survived by his brother-in-law, Thomas J. Minervino; sisters-in-law, Mary Martin and Julie Minervino. He is also survived by his special aunt, Constance Pierobello. He has many nieces and nephews.
Russell's wife, Anna, wishes to express deep gratitude to Dr. Philip Frederick for the extraordinary care given to Russell over many years. Russ often told others how much he appreciated Dr. Frederick, and how special he was. He was more than a doctor; he was Russell's friend. Anna also wishes to extend thanks to those who cared for Russell at Maine Medical Center's Cardiac Intensive Care Unit: Dr. Lisa Thomas, Dr. Elizabeth Herrle, Dr. Vigay Krishnamoorthy, Dr. William Dietz, and Dr. Benjamin Young. Also to the nurses who gave such compassionate care: Emily Benevento, Kim Illig, Sarah Peters, Vonnie Fieldsend and Laura Begley. Thanks also to Dr Burkey, Dr Cohen, Dr Diaz and all the staff who cared for Russell at Maine Cardiology.
Relatives and friends are invited to a time of visitation on Friday Aug.5, 2011 from 11:00 am to 12:00 noon at the Jones, Rich and Hutchins Funeral Home, 199 Woodford St. Funeral Services will be held on Friday Aug.5, 2011 at 12:00 Noon at the Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
