

Stanley G. Mattatall, aged 92, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, July 25, 2015, with his family surrounding their beloved father, grandfather and great grandfather. Stan was born in E. Machias on May 10, 1923, the son of George and Alice (Brown) Mattatall. Shortly after graduating high school at Washington Academy, Stan joined the Army to fight in WW11. Upon his return, he married Mary Ashley of E. Machias, and began his 40 year career working for the Maine Central Railroad. They moved to Scarborough in 1960 and raised their four children there. Stan's favorite memories were from the days when he was able to pack up his truck and his dog, Baxter, and head downeast to his camp on Gardner's Lake to hunt and fish. Everyone was welcome. Besides his parents, Stan is predeceased by his sister, Annette Dennison, of E.Machias. He is survived by, and will be so sadly missed by, his children: Cheryl Rector, Susan Bilodeau, Rocky Mattatall, Spike Mattatall, many grandchildren and great grandchildren. The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the staff at VNA Home Health and Hospice {in particular, Marla and Shelly} for the wonderful care that our Dad received. Services were private for the family. Arrangements are under the care of Jones, Rich & Hutchins Funeral Home, Portland.
