

A celebration of life for a long time Portland resident, Alice I. Schwartz, will be held Saturday April 7, 2012 at 1:00 PM in the chapel of Lincoln Memorial Park Funeral Home. A reception for family and friends will follow the service in the funeral home reception hall. Private interment will be held at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, Oregon.
Alice was born May 13, 1922 in Portland, Oregon, the daughter of Earl and Susan Hutchison. She passed away on April 3rd, 2012 in Portland, Oregon at the age of 89.
Alice lived in Portland for a while, then moved to Amity, Oregon where she graduated from High School. She worked at Jantzen Knitting Mills, White Stag, Precision Castparts where she helped make some of the first pieces of the rocket engine that went to the moon. She also owned and operated a neighborhood grocery store before the 7-11 and Mini Mart came along.
Her husband Daniel and two sons, Michael and Thomas preceded her in death.
She spent her last few years at Somerset Assisted Living where she was a social butterfly enjoying arts and crafts, bingo, church, dining, all activities and getting together with her family and friends.
Alice is survived by her brother Earl Hutchison; her son Myron of Kaneohe, HI; daughters Peggy Sorensen of Portland, Oregon; Mary Syth of Oregon City; her 8 grandchildren: 13 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren. Alice also had numerous nieces and nephews.
