First born to the Ohrmundts in 1916, Alvah was a farm girl raised in Wadena, Minnesota. In her 20's, she graduated from the Fargo, N.D. beauty school. She married Melvin Thompson and had her first child, Diana. The family moved to Portland, where Duane, Val, and Velva were born. She raised her children to be like her: smart, athletic, creative, helpers and doers. Her career was in catering, heading the Congress Hotel banquet staff for years. She loved gardening (roses), animals (dogs), working hard, socializing, and most of all, family. She was a welcoming cornerstone in her neighborhood for over 72 years.
Alvah was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Myrt and Delores, first husband Melvin, 2nd husband, Don Keidel, and daughter-in-law Pat. She is survived by her brother Norman & his family in Wadena; her children, Diana (Joe), Duane (Barb), Val (Joan), and Velva (Bill); her grandchildren, Christine, David, Taylor, William, Mark; her 6 great grandchildren; and nieces & nephews.
Funeral Services & reception will be held at 12:30pm, Fri. April 20 at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home.
