Anne Kelleher passed away peacefully in the early morning hours on July 13,2017 with her loving family at her side. She lived a full life and was kind to everyone who came into contact with her. She was eighty-two years old and battled with vascular dementia for the past five years. Born Anne Irene Ingram to parents Fred C. Ingram and Leila Debley Ingram, deceased. She was the oldest of three, mother of four, and grandmother of ten. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of fifty-nine years, Daniel J. Kelleher.
Anne graduated from Holy Child Academy in 1953, where she excelled in athletics and academics. After high school she followed her heart and married Dan. She put her ambitions on hold while taking on the duties and responsibilities of married life. She was a wonderful wife, mother, daughter-in-law, friend and confidant. After a near-death experience in the mid-1960s, she was so inspired by the nurses that took care of her, she applied, and received, an associate’s degree in nursing from Portland Community College. Anne worked “On the Hill” for the next thirty-five years as the Nurse Administrator for the Clinical Research Center at OHSU.
Devouring books, playing tennis with life-long friends, and travel were her passions as well as attending every endeavor that her grandchildren were involved in. She truly loved life and supported everyone she knew. Anne’s sense of humor was always present even after vascular dementia became apparent. Her smile and willingness to stop and talk to everyone and anyone was an inspiration to those who loved her. After her husband died, Anne moved into The Stafford in Lake Oswego where she developed new friends and enjoyed all aspects of life in that special community. Anne remained at The Stafford until her death. She will be sorely missed by everyone that knew her and will be remembered as someone that was kind, supportive, and constant.
A Funeral Mass will be held at the church where she married Dan, St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, in Northeast Portland at 11:00 am Friday, July 21, 2017 with a reception to follow. She will be interred at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
