

Audrey Lynn Drew, 85, of Portland was born in Brazil, Iowa, the oldest of four children to Ross and Venice Campbell. She graduated from Centerville High School in Centerville, Iowa in 1943. Shortly after graduation she moved to Davenport, Iowa where she she worked for M.A. Ford Co., a tool company. She then went to work for International Harvester, a company that made parts for tanks during World War II. She worked the graveyard shift because it paid an extra 10¢ an hour. Upon the war ending, she married her childhood sweetheart Frederick Lester Drew. The couple moved to Portland in 1945 and had four daughters and a son. She worked at SH Kress in downtown Portland, where she managed the toy department. She then managed her husband's refrigeration company, P&F Refrigeration for over 40 years.
Audrey was a sports enthusiast with a particular affinity for baseball. She loved watching the World Series and always made sure to root against the Yankees. She loved softball, watching figure skating and was also an avid Oregon State Beaver fan. She enjoyed baking desserts, especially pies. The family had hot chocolate, fountain soda and soft serve ice cream machines and it was known throughout the neighborhood that a free sweet treat was available to all. Audrey loved wheeling the ice cream machine into the driveway to serve the neighborhood children.
Audrey is survived by her sister Loretta Erwin of Kansas City, Missouri; daughters Kathy Burkhartsmeier, Scappoose, OR; Randi Johnson, Forest Grove, OR; Kimberly Bufton, Portland, OR; Patricia Drew, Amboy, WA; son Bret Drew, Tigard, OR and seven grand children and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years and her brothers James and George .
A private family memorial service will be held on October 12th.
