Betty May Hansen

Betty May Hansen passed away at home on February 1, 2017 in Portland Oregon. She was 91 years old. Betty, one of the sweetest people in the world, was born in Ironton, Missouri. She was one of a set of triplets born to Augusta and John McDowell. Betty had a successful career with the Upjohn Pharmaceutical Company in Portland. She married Glenn Lamont (Mont) Hansen in 1977. They were a loving, happy couple, even tolerating rival music taste (country vs. classical and jazz). Betty always had an artistic eye, and loved making and collecting beautiful things. But caring for family was her greatest talent. She was masterful at mothering and grand-mothering, whether she was having lovely little pretend tea parties or digging in the sand at Long Beach with the grandkids. Betty is survived by her three sons, Kevin, Kirk, and Mark, her grandchildren, Jeff, Ryan, Kacia, Brooke, Elliot, Joseph, and DaeJin, great-grandchildren Stella, Henley, Monte and Ruby, and many nieces and nephews in Missouri and around the country. She will be missed, and will always make us smile when we think of her.
