Carey Edward Thompson, born on August 3, 1967, in Vancouver, Washington, passed peacefully into the next life on September 8, 2024, at 6:13 a.m., with his beloved wife Beth by his side, holding his hand.
Carey grew up in Centralia, Washington, where he attended Centralia High School and graduated from Centralia College. He worked as a heavy equipment mechanic until his medical retirement in 2007.
He first met Beth when they worked together as teenagers in Beaverton, Oregon. They reconnected 21 years later on April 6, 2008 in Borst Park in Centralia Washington, they were married May 23, 2009 at Canby Pioneer Chapel and later settled in Oregon in 2012.
Carey was a man who, despite carrying deep wounds and enduring many injustices in life, remained gentle, kind, and loving. His sense of humor was ever-present. He considered himself blessed to have been placed in the care of Bill and Marilee Goebel at the age of 12, who, in his words, saved his life. To him, they were and will always be "Mom and Dad."
He had a deep love for music, classic cars, tools, adventure shows, and anything related to Sasquatch. Carey had a sweet tooth for gummy bears, gummy colas, Sweet Tarts, Pop-Tarts, and crab. He adored spending time with his "grumble" of pugs and cats and cherished the time with his children. Trips to the Oregon Coast and Mt. Hood were a favorite, offering moments of tranquility, cribbage games, and the joy of being with his family.
Carey is survived by his loving wife, Beth Thompson; his children, Alex, Courtney, and Adam; his sisters Kelley and Tammie, and half-sister Rocky; Bill and Marilee Goebel; Mother-in-law Barbara Andrews; Brother and Sister-in-law Tim and Sharon Andrews; Brother and Sister-in law Brian and Brandy Andrews; along with his uncle, and many nieces and nephews across Washington and Oregon.
He was preceded in death by his biological parents, Patricia and Thomas; his half-brother TJ; and his grandparents, Maxine and Bert.
Carey will be remembered for his resilience, his kindness, and the love he shared with those close to him.
