

Cecelia Helen Stevens, Na zhin ne wke, 98 of Portland, OR began her journey from this earth on December 6, 2021. Cecelia was born in Danbury, Wisconsin on January 18, 1923 to August and Mary Cadotte. She was a member of the St Croix Chippewa Tribe. She graduated from Webster HS, Webster Wisconsin in 1940. From HS she went to Haskell Institute, Lawrence Kansas, where she completed a two year post HS program. While at Haskell she met Carl Stewart Lobert who would later become her husband in 1944. Cecelia joined the Navy Waves and served from 1943 through 1945. Carl proceeded her in death. In 1957 she married the man who would be her husband for 35 years Gregory Joseph Stevens.
Cecelia worked 32 years in federal service. She spent the majority of her career working for the Bureau of Indian Affairs as a clerk in Individual Indian Monies Accounts. She worked at Klamath & Umatilla Agencies, Oregon and in the Eastern Area Office in Washington D.C. where she worked with the Eastern Band of Cherokee. She enjoyed singing, working in her yard, shopping and supporting her grand- children’s hockey, water polo, soccer, swimming, and basketball events. She was a big enthusiast of the Portland Trail Blazers and held season tickets for many years.
Cecelia is survived by two daughters, LaVonne Lobert-Edmo, Damascus, Oregon and Robin Klein, Portland, Oregon. She had 10 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and 9 great-great grandchildren. Five daughters proceeded her in death, Mary Rose Stevens, Elizabeth Marie Stevens, Ann Louise Stevens, Shelley Ann Lobert, and Stacey Jo Stevens.
Viewing will be at St. Rita’s Catholic Church, 10029 NE Prescott St., Portland, Oregon at 10:30 a.m. on December 23, 2021. A funeral mass will follow at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be at Willamette National Cemetery 11800 SE Mount Scott Blvd, Happy Valley, Oregon, where Cecelia will be buried with Military Honors.
