Charles J. Olson died peacefully at home on December 18 at 91 years old. He was born May 6, 1921 in Chicago to Ernest and Catherine Ratzlaff Olson. He served in WW II on the heavy cruiser USS Portland. When the war was over he married Peggy Mehurg of Gadsden Alabama. He was happily married to Peggy for 52 years. He moved his family to Portland, Oregon where he began his career at Pacific NW Bell. Charlie retired after 37 years as an engineer. Over the years they had three children: Ron (Val), Karen (Tom) and Bob (Sherri); grandchildren: Brad, Randy (Tammie), Julie(Sean), Kellie and Samantha, and three great Grandchildren: Julia, Reis and Raleigh.
A service to celebrate his life is scheduled for Saturday, December 22, 2012 at 11am at Gateway Little Chapel of the Chimes. Charles will be buried with full military honors at Willamette National Cemetery on Thursday, December 27 at 11am. In lieu of flowers please donate to Providence Hospice or the Salvation Army.
