Constance Marie Smith (Corbin), lovingly known as “Connie,” passed away peacefully on February 10, 2025, in Beaverton, Oregon, at the age of 88. Born on September 20, 1936, in Saint Leonard, New Brunswick, Canada, Connie was the beloved daughter of Homerille Corbin and Antoinette Marie Akerley, both of whom preceded her in passing. She was one of four siblings and is lovingly remembered by her sisters, Edwina Corbin and Marie “Ozete” Stafford, and her brother, Homerille Jr., affectionately known as “Prill.” Connie was a devoted wife to Melvin Lee Smith, with whom she shared a beautiful life. They were married on May 26, 1956, and together they built a home filled with love, family, and unwavering support. Melvin preceded her in passing on February 20, 2002, but their love remained ever-present in her heart. Throughout her life, Connie built a successful and significant career in sales and management, earning numerous accolades and awards for her dedication and excellence at Harry Ritchie’s Jewelers. Beyond her professional achievements, she was a devoted military wife, supporting her husband throughout his service in the United States Air Force. Connie was deeply involved in her children’s lives, always present and supportive. She even took on the role of softball coach for her daughter’s team, leaving lasting memories and a legacy of encouragement. She was also an active member of the American Legion, Legion Post 104, and enjoyed many years of bowling alongside her husband, sharing laughter and friendly competition.
Her greatest joy was her family. She is lovingly remembered by her children:
• Glenn Lee Smith
• Cheryl Ann Sasaki
• Donna “Dahn” Marie Jackson
• Jeffrey Allen Smith
She was a proud and cherished grandmother to:
• Trent Christian Jackson
• Tyler Sasaki
• Mason Sasaki
• Chaley Brianne McVay
• Brittany Smith
• Giselle Sasaki
In her final days, Connie was cared for with love and compassion by Tenderly Hospice in Beaverton, Oregon. As we remember her, we find comfort in the words of 1 Corinthians 13:1-7:
"Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.”
Her legacy of love, strength, and grace will live on through her family and all who were blessed to know her.
Donations to the Alzheimer's charity of the donors choice would be appreciated by Connie's family.
